Mela Hogerheide

Gymnastics Coach

About Me
Hi, my name is Mela (may-luh) and I spent 10 years training competitively at GTC, reaching Level 8 and earning multiple state and regional titles. Gymnastics has been a foundational part of my life for as long as I can remember. The sport taught me important lessons that continue to shape the way I coach today. It wasn’t just an activity for me—it became a part of who I am and continues to drive my passion for helping athletes grow.
After gymnastics, cheer became a continuation of my passion for movement, confidence, and connection. As a member of the Adams High School varsity cheer team, we won three consecutive state championships. Cheer showed me the incredible value of team spirit and lifting others up—a mindset I bring into every session.

Coaching Philosophy
As a coach, I love helping athletes build both skills and confidence. My goal is to create a supportive space where athletes feel motivated, encouraged, and proud of their progress—whether they’re nailing a new skill or just showing up and giving their best.

Outside the Gym
I’m a senior at Clemson University majoring in Health Science, with plans to attend PA school. My interest in health and performance ties directly into how I coach. Blending my athletic background with my passion for helping others is something I truly value, and I’m excited to support each athlete on their journey.
